WHO'S THAT KNOCKING AT MY DOOR?

Hanging up the advent calendar, I paused. Was that a Christmas song?

I opened the front door.

The first teenager held up a boom-box.

“Jingle bells, Jingle Bells,”

“Stop! What carols do you know?”

“Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way.”

“That’s not a carol.”

The second rattled a tin.

I took in their Timberland jackets and phones. Both held the latest iPhone 6s to one ear.

Holding my old battered Samsung in front of them, I saw bemusement as they compared it with their space age technology.

I shut the door.

Charity begins at home boys.

Merry Christmas.
