HOME OF THE GODS

BY RICK HAYNES

Shards of ice surge upwards to the heavens, their colour changing to burnished gold as the rays of the golden orb turn them into pillars of fire.

Deep inside their realm, the gods are cosseted, their minds elsewhere, wandering far away over the cosmos.

Yet, Titian, the god of war, and his sister, Jade, the goddess of peace are locked in battle to determine the right for humans to live or die.

The world below is changing.

The skies are crimson; the green lands destroyed by marauding armies and only a tidal wave of heroes’ blood can prevent the slaughter.

UNBROKEN SILENCE

BY RICK HAYNES

Inspired by The Scream.

This evil world encompasses my body. The tempest threatens to engulf me, the dust eats into my soul, and the sun burns my heavy heart.

Only death can release me from my torment.

I sense your presence, but where are you?

How I wish that you could show some compassion. Alas, you are as sightless as I in this unforgiving world.

I wish that God would take me, yet, would he understand my lust for revenge?

You destroyed me with love, for it would have been better to have perished at birth than to be born, deaf, dumb and blind.

THAT'S ALL FOLKS - COME BACK SOON
